Looking for a new route to reach Kedarnath temple
A new route has been found in Uttarakhand to visit Baba Kedar, different from the old route. This new route is easier and shorter than the previous one. Former MLA of Kedarnath Assembly Constituency Manoj Rawat in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh said that in Kedarnath, separate roads are being considered without relying on any one road. He said that it has been observed many times that during the rainy season, travel is halted and commuters are affected due to landslides and debris flows. In such a situation, it is necessary to prepare alternative routes. So far 9 routes have been discovered.
Manoj Rawat said that a new way has been found nowadays. It is Kham Bugial of four months. He said that after going a little further from Guptakashi, a road leads to Kalimath. After four-five kilometers from Guptakashi, one can reach here by descending Kalimath. After this, Chaumasi village is 10 km away from here. By climbing from this village you can reach Kedarnath Dham in next seven to eight hours.
The mountain road is old
Manoj Rawat said that he was going to Rambada via Chaumasi and Jal. People from here used to go to Rambada with horses and mules. Used to travel through this route during the 2013 disaster. He was evacuated safely. Manoj Rawat said that the special feature of this route is that it originates from four places between Rambada and Kedarnath and then ends at Kham Bugial. He said that the motorable road is up to Chaumasi.
How easy is the road?
There are no landslides on this route. This is pure rock and valley. It is a very beautiful area. He said there is also a small river. Kedarnath is a century division, so no major construction can take place. At present, one has to take a century route slip to go here.
How many roads are there in total?
Manoj Rawat said that the road to Kedarnath was also being repaired before the 2013 tragedy. For this Garudachatti is being developed from Rambada. Along with this, traffic is also continuing on the road constructed after the accident through Lincholi. Along with this there is a plan to prepare Chaumasi as an alternative route.
Lessons learned from the July disaster
On July 31, 15,000 people were trapped after a cloud burst in Bhimbli, 6 km before Kedarnath. Several people lost their lives in this accident. According to Kalimath Panchayat member Vinod Rana, when disaster struck Kedarnath Dham in 2013, the rescue team reached Kedarnath four months ago. There is a 6 feet wide track. But, it has to be developed. In an exclusive conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh, Manoj Samwal said that although it has not been officially confirmed, the kind of expert opinion that is being received shows that the new road is well and good.
