Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke a lot about improving air quality at the SIAM conference. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari asserted that he is not against petrol and diesel. Gadkari said that I am not against petrol and diesel but there is a need to protect people from air pollution. People have to face health issues. He stressed the urgent need to tackle air pollution to protect public health.

Union Minister Gadkari said the government aims to create more employment to eradicate poverty. Every year 5 lakh road accidents occur in India and as your minister, I am responsible for it. Gadkari said experimenting with mixed fuels in his area is a big challenge.

Union Minister Gadkari said that methanol can be blended with diesel to control pollution. Gadkari said that there is a need to move towards green energy. Union Minister Gadkari said that we are spending Rs 100 crore on diesel and creating pollution. Gadkari said that in 2014 the share of diesel PV was 53 per cent, and now it is 18 per cent.

He said that I think that within two years the cost of petrol and diesel vehicles will be equal to that of electric vehicles because savings are already being made on electric vehicles.
