Nigerian Brownie in Civil Lines Police Station, Jabalpur
A strange incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. Seven years ago, a Nigerian was arrested here in the name of marriage fraud. This Nigerian came out with a sentence, but now he is saying that he will not go to his country. Instead he will stay here in India and start a new life by marrying a local girl. Because there is no such provision in any law of India. In such a situation, the Jabalpur police are confused as to what to do.
Another problem for the police is that his visa has also expired. In such a situation, the police have now informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Nigeria. At present Jabalpur Police is taking care of him by keeping him in Civil Lines Police Station. According to the Jabalpur Police, a youth, John alias Brownie, of Nigerian origin was arrested in the year 2018. Since then he was lodged in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail, Jabalpur. He was accused of luring a woman through a matrimonial site and defrauding her of Rs 17 lakh.
Said- India’s economy is better than others
Based on the woman’s complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused from Delhi, but now after completing the sentence, it was found that his visa has expired. The problem for the police in such a situation was how to send him to Nigeria. Not only this, after coming out of jail, Brownie praised the civilization and culture of India and said that there is no other country like it in the world. He has announced that he will not leave India and go anywhere. He will stay here and start his new life by marrying a local girl.

According to the city’s Superintendent of Police Omati Pankaj Mishra, Brownie expressed his desire to stay in Delhi and get married. He says that India’s economy is much better than many other big countries including Nigeria. After 7 years in Jabalpur Jail, Brownie now understands and speaks Hindi. He has requested the Jabalpur police and the central government to allow him to stay in India and start a new life.
Catering is being done at Civil Lines Police Station
He said that at present Brownie is kept at the Civil Lines Police Station and is being cared for here. Along with this, the process of his passport visa has also been started. As soon as the visa is generated, it will be sent to his/her country. He said that since he expressed his wish to stay in India, his wish is being taken into consideration.
