CPL 2024 has seen another strong attack from Nicholas Pooran. He has written a stormy tale of his second century on the CPL pitch. On 29 September, against Guyana’s Amazon Warriors, he hit back-to-back sixes, unleashing a storm of runs and thereby leading his team Trinbago Knight Riders to a big win. Nicholas Pooran not only scored a century to lead the team to victory but also broke the record of Trinbago Knight Riders.
Trinbago Knight Riders batted first in the match, with their first wicket falling for just 1 run but the real game started after that as Nicholas Pooran came to the crease. As soon as Nicholas finished, he started making runs, a sight that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Jason Roy also stands with him at the wicket.
Nicholas Pooran had a record breaking partnership with Jason Roy
Nicholas Pooran and Jason Roy put on a 152-run partnership for the second wicket, a new record for the highest partnership for any wicket for Trinbago Knight Riders in T20s. This record was previously held by Dwayne Bravo and Hashim Amla, who added 150 runs.
Puran scored a century in 59 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 9 fours
Jason Roy scored just 34 runs in a partnership of 152 runs with Nicholas Pooran. Even after Roy’s dismissal, Nicholas’ bat continued to rain. He scored 109 off 59 balls which included 8 sixes and 9 fours. This was Nicholas Pooran’s first century in CPL 2024 and third century in his entire CPL career.
Nicholas’ wicket fell in the 17th over, after which no other batsman could do anything special. Captain Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 19 runs. Trinbago Knight Riders scored 211 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
