The impact of Cyclone Yagi is being seen in Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain is falling in many districts. The weather remains bad due to lightning and strong winds. The Meteorological Department has warned of rain in the state in the next 48 hours. In view of continuous rain, school holidays have been declared in many districts including Eta, Kanpur, Pratapgarh, Hamirpur, Bahraich, Banda, Rampur, Amroha. Many areas are under flood due to continuous rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in 43 districts of the state in the next 48 hours.
Alerts have been issued in many districts regarding lightning and strong winds. The state government has made preparations to deal with the impact of the cyclonic storm. Teams of PAC, SDRF and NDRF have been alerted. Also people have been made aware in many areas to avoid any disaster situation.
Heavy rain in 20 districts
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely in 20 districts of the state on Thursday. These include Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Gazipur, Azamgarh, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur and Unnao. Also, the Meteorological Department has predicted that rain will continue for 2 to 3 days.
Lightning and High Wind Warning
Due to heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh, lightning warning has been issued in many areas. Which includes Ayodhya, Amethi. Fatehpur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Chitrakoot, Banda, Kannauj, Bhadohi, Ghazipur. Includes Moradabad, Amroha, Chandauli, Pratapgarh, Mirzapur. An advisory has been issued by the administration in this regard. People have been advised to be careful and stay indoors in bad weather. Important advice has also been given to the farmers.
Rivers rise, floods wreak havoc
The rivers flowing in the state are getting strained due to heavy rains. Ganga, Ghaghra, Sharda and Sarayu rivers are wreaking havoc. Due to its effect, floods have occurred in Barabanki, Gazipur, Pilibhit, Sonbhadra. More than 50 villages of Purvanchal have been inundated due to floods. Incessant rains have made the situation more dire. People have fled from flood affected areas in Ghazipur. Their houses are submerged in water. Dams are opened as the water level in the rivers rises. Due to incessant rains and release of water from the dam, the river Ganga has risen. Many connectivity routes in Pilibhit district have been cut.
