Punjab Electricity Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO
Punjab Electricity and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is adopting a policy of zero tolerance against corruption. He said that manipulation was attempted during the sale of scrap from the central depot of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in Kotakpura. After which JEE and store keeper have been suspended with immediate effect. Police action has been initiated against the employees and traders involved in the case.
The Minister of Electricity gave this information through a press release. Harbhajan Singh ETO said teams of PSPCL’s Enforcement Wing and Technical Investigation Wing conducted a surprise inspection of the goods paid for under junk sale order from Central Warehouse, PSPCL, Kotakpura on July 25.
He said that during the checking, it was found that one of the three trucks carrying scrap goods had attempted to install a new aluminum conductor under the scrap aluminum conductor, causing financial loss to them.
He further said that the officials found responsible as per the spot investigation, including senior Axion store Beant Singh, store in-charge junior engineer Gurmel Singh and store keeper (LDC) Nirmal Singh, have been suspended with immediate effect. Police action has also been initiated against the accused employees and the trader who collected the goods in this case.
He said that strict action will be taken by the department against other officials and employees found guilty in this matter. Electricity Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that no matter how senior an officer is, he will not be let go if he is caught being negligent and corrupt.
