NEET Paper Leak Case: "Admit on 12th standard marks and cancel NEET exam once and for all…" Who wrote a letter to eight chief ministers, including PM?

There have been frequent protests across the country over the malpractices in the NEET exam. Action has also been initiated against the culprits in the Berber case. The opposition has been insisting on a discussion on the issue in both houses of Parliament.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of eight states. In it, he reiterated his demand for exemption of Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility–Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission to medical colleges and permanent cancellation of the national level exam.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi (NEET Paper Leak Case) on exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET, Chief Minister Stalin said, “The selection process for professional courses should be based only on class 12 marks. There should not be a separate entrance test as it puts more stress on the students.”

“We had passed a bill in our Assembly not to conduct NEET (NEET Paper Leak 2024 Latest News) exams in Tamil Nadu and to admit medical colleges on the basis of class XII marks,” Stalin said in his letter. It has now been sent to the President, but he has not yet approved it.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Telangana and West Bengal. In it, Stalin urged the chief ministers to take steps to cancel the NEET exam in their respective assemblies.

Stalin has also written to Leader of Opposition in The Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to support the demand for exemption of Tamil Nadu from NEET exams.

In his letter to Rahul, Stalin said, “The recent incidents of irregularities in neet-ug exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) have shattered the dreams of many hardworking candidates who want to study medicine in the country. This system is also depriving the poor youth of rural areas of fulfilling their dream of a degree in medicine.”

In his letter, Stalin further said, “I request you to raise this issue and the demand for Tamil Nadu in Parliament and the states included in the opposition alliance should also pass similar resolutions in the respective assemblies in the interest of the youth of the country.”
