A land dispute is said to be the reason for the settlement where the fire broke out in Krishna Nagar village in Bihar’s Nawada district. The arsonists in the Dalit settlement are powerful people from the nearby village. The victims alleged that the accused were eyeing the colony land. This land neither belongs to the people living here nor to the gangsters who destroyed the settlement. Earlier it was said that the settlement was built on government land, but now there is a new twist.
The land of the riverside Dalit settlement is said to belong to Muslim Shamsul Mian. This has been explained by Nawada SDM Akhilesh Prasad. He said that in the investigation of the administration, the land documents were registered in the name of Shamsul Mian. The SDM said that this colony is situated on the raiyat land of Shamsul Mian. Colony has been settled illegally. He says that the matter is being investigated.
Dalit colony caught fire
On Wednesday night, a gang of goons set fire to a Dalit colony in Nawada’s Krishna Nagar village. About 30 houses of the colony were burnt to ashes. The mob that attacked the colony numbered around 100. The victims said that the mob that attacked the settlement was armed. They spread panic by firing 50 rounds. Anarchy spread in the colony. The victims say that the attacking mob brought petrol and diesel with them. They poured petrol diesel on the houses and set them on fire.
About 80 houses were burnt to ashes
A bunch of miscreants set fire and left. The event includes Gorelal, Japsi Manjhi, Sanjay Manjhi, Nitya Manjhi, Ramchandra Manjhi, Bhola Manjhi, Tara Manjhi, Vijay Ravidas, Shobha Devi, Sarita Devi, Surup Manjhi, Lalita Devi, Awadhesh Manjhi, Manoj Manjhi, Doma Manjhi, Domdas Rathwa etc. is The houses of Gendo Manjhi, Suresh Manjhi, Naval Manjhi and Nilesh Manjhi and many others were burnt to ashes. Only burnt houses are visible in the settlement. The victims say that all the belongings kept in their house were burnt to ashes in the fire.
Arrest of key leader
Police have arrested 10 accused including Nandu Paswan, the main accused in the incident. The victims alleged that Nandu already had an eye on this land. He also fired in the year 2023. A complaint was lodged with the police but there was no solution. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given strict orders to the higher officials regarding this incident. ADG Law and Order has been dispatched to the spot. It has been instructed to catch the culprits at any cost and punish them severely.
