The Special Cell is interrogating jailed gangster Hashim Baba in connection with the September 12 murder of gym operator Nadir Shah (35) in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash area. The special cell will interrogate Hashim Baba in 7 days custody and try to find out how he hatched the conspiracy to kill Nadir from inside the jail.

Notorious don Lawrence Bishnoi, who was lodged in Tihar Jail even after the Musewala massacre, called one of the gang’s friends. In the year 2023, the special cell will also interrogate Hashim Baba, Lawrence’s close aide, regarding Lawrence’s video call to Kunal Chhabra, a big Delhi businessman who runs an illegal call center and is close to Nadir Shah, threatening Rs 5 crore.
It is being told that Kunal Chhabra, close to Nadir, was also threatened by Lawrence Bishnoi through a video call from inside the jail. However, an investigation is underway as to which state prison Lawrence was in when he made the video call.
Extortion demand from businessman
In fact, the Delhi Police is investigating an alleged mobile phone clip of a video call made by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi demanding ransom from a businessman, which surfaced on social media on Monday. According to police sources, the video call was made in May last year, when the restaurant and travel company owner was on a trip to Dubai with his family.
The businessman filed a complaint against Bishnoi in the Delhi Police’s special cell. In the three-minute video, Bishnoi is heard asking the businessman if he wants to see a miracle. In reply the merchant says, I don’t want to see any miracle. The police said that the authenticity of the video is being investigated.
According to the FIR filed, the businessman said that on May 22, 2023, he received a call from a person who identified himself as Lawrence Bishnoi. When he asked the caller if he was really a Bishnoi, the gangster disconnected the call and made a video call. The FIR said that Bishnoi threatened the businessman and demanded money from him as ransom.
He then returned to India on May 30, though he continued to receive calls from Bishnoi and his gang member Goldie Brar, who is said to be in the US. Bishnoi’s name also came up along with jailed gangster Hashim Baba in the case of the murder of gym operator Nadir Shah in Greater Kailash area. Sources said the police suspect that Shah was killed because he was trying to interfere in a case involving a businessman.
Bishnoi, who is currently in jail in Gujarat, was also involved in the conspiracy to kill Punjabi singer Sidhu Moozwala from jail. More than two dozen cases of threat, extortion, murder and attempt to murder have been registered against him. According to police officials, seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the Nadir Shah murder case, but the two assailants who fired at him outside the gym are yet to be caught.
