Heavy rain in Mumbai
Mumbai is also experiencing heavy rains in many parts of Maharashtra for the last three days. Incessant heavy rains in Mumbai on Sunday have disrupted life across the city. Many roads have been flooded and water has reached people’s houses at many places. 36 flights were canceled on Sunday due to heavy rain in Mumbai.
A total of 82 mm of rain fell till 4 pm on Sunday, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation said. Due to waterlogging, traffic jams on several roads and the situation worsened at many places. Out of the 36 canceled flights, 24 were of IndiGo, 8 of Air India and 4 of Vistara. Earlier as many as 15 flights were diverted towards Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the relief was that the local train continued. However, some trains were running late on the Harbor Line. Tracks were flooded at Mankhurd, Panvel and Kurla stations.
Road transport routes were diverted due to inundation of many roads. Andheri Nagar Subway, Khar Subway, Maharashtra Nagar Subway were closed in Trombay due to fear of untoward incident. Roads were flooded in Wadala and Matunga in Mumbai. Due to which the vehicles were stuck for hours. Keeping in view the heavy rain situation, CM Eknath Shinde has instructed the officials of all departments to be on high alert.
60 tourists are stranded in Navi Mumbai
60 tourists went to have fun near Jai Durga Mata Nagar in Sector 8 of CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Due to the sudden rise in the water level of the dam, all the tourists were trapped. However, later the fire brigade team reached the spot on time and the people were evacuated safely. Roads were completely submerged in water in Sin area of Mumbai. Matunga Road was so flooded that the entire bus stop was submerged.
