Eyewitness Sonu Kumar told PTI that water tanks and rainwater overflowed nearby drains, making the surface slippery. Sonu said that when Guruji left after about an hour and a half, devotees suddenly ran after him to touch his feet. Devotees could be seen bowing on the ground as their car passed by.

Due to the mistake, people started falling on each other

Sonu Kumar said that after this, when people returned, they fell on each other due to a sudden landslide. He said there was a crowd of at least 10,000 people. Kailash, an elderly person at the postmortem house in Ita, said that while returning after performing aarti in satsang, the road was muddy, due to which people fell down to escape and stampede.

At the same time, another eyewitness said that we left the place before the Sadbhavana program was over. The program started at around 11.30 am. This incident happened due to pushing. According to people present at the spot, the arrangements there were inadequate.

The SDM said- there was a race to get a glimpse

According to Sikanderau SDM Ravendra Kumar, the stampede broke out at the end of the satsang when devotees were trying to catch a glimpse of preacher Bhole Baba. He said some people also wanted to collect soil around Sog Baba’s feet. On the other hand, Sikanderrau police station in-charge inspector Ashish Kumar blamed the crowd at preacher Bhole Baba’s satsang for the tragedy.
