A teacher teaching children in a rented room
To improve the quality of education in Madhya Pradesh, many claims have been made at the government level about good buildings, technical facilities and enough teachers in schools, but the reality in Jabalpur is the opposite. A government school is running in a rented house about 50 km from Jabalpur district. Where the new building was supposed to be built, cow-buffalos are now being built there. There is neither a good school building for the children nor enough teachers to teach them. But amidst this poor system, what a woman teacher posted in the same school has done is commendable. Brijanandani Sen, a female teacher in a small village in Jabalpur’s Shahpura Development Block, has taken a unique initiative to awaken the spirit of education.
Brijanandi Sen is a teacher at Chowki School, a government school posted in Shahpura Development Block. The school building was dilapidated and the education department of Madhya Pradesh forgot to rebuild it after demolishing it. Children’s education was going on under the tree. Children started skipping school because of the rain and sun, causing a cloud of danger to hang over their future. In this challenging situation, Brijnandani Sen decided not to back down from his duty. He started paying room rent from his salary so that his children’s education would not be disrupted. Paying a monthly rent of two thousand rupees, he rented a house in the village itself, where the school could easily run. This initiative is proving to be an important step in shaping the future of children.
A unique initiative of a woman teacher
Brijanandini Sen, a female teacher, says that after the school building was demolished, she started teaching children under a tree in the village for a few days, but small animals kept roaming nearby. Due to unseasonal rains and intense sunshine, there was a lot of difficulty, then along with the headmaster of the school, we rented a house in the village for Rs 2,000, in which we run a school from class 1 to class 5. Brijnandani said that under these circumstances we can provide higher education to children, if we get a school building, we will be able to provide better education to children. In this regard, information has been given to all the officials sitting in the development department and the district.
Room rent is paid from salary
Brijnandani Sen not only paid the rent for the rented room from her own salary, but also ensured that the children had a safe and stable environment to study. His initiative not only continued the education of the children but also boosted their confidence. At present a total of 32 children study in the school and two women teachers are also posted with them. On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, when we honor teachers, don’t forget to salute this initiative of Brijanandani Sen. This unique and inspiring initiative of his proved that a teacher is not only a giver of knowledge but also a guardian of a bright future for children. Brijanandani Sen’s initiative has not only enriched the lives of children, but has emerged as an inspiration for everyone.
The government is still not awake
Regarding this whole issue, Shahpura Development Block Engineer Bharat Kori says that permission to build a school has not yet been received from the department. In this regard, the department has been informed that a new building will be constructed whenever an order is received. The big thing is when the Madhya Pradesh government will give approval for this school and when will the new building be ready for these children. How long will these children continue to attend charter schools?
