Mohalla buses will run in Delhi soon.

Delhi Government is also going to start ‘Mohalla Buses’ on the lines of ‘Mohalla Clinics’ to increase last mile connectivity in Delhi. For this, a trial has also been started on 2 routes from July 15. The trial will last for one week. After this, further routes and frequencies of buses will be determined according to the data collected during the trial. According to the Delhi government, these buses are 9 meters long and will go to places and roads in Delhi where larger 12 meter buses cannot go.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot himself started the trial by boarding a Mohalla bus from Delhi Secretariat. Meanwhile, Kailash Gehlot speaking exclusively to TV9 Bharatvarsh said that people were waiting for the Mohalla bus. People were asking me on social media too. We studied the areas where our big buses could not reach. From there came the idea that the Delhi government should bring minibuses.

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot explained the suitability of the buses

Telling the features of the buses, Kailash Gehlot said that this is a 9 meter long bus. The Delhi government has ordered 2,080 buses, of which 1,040 are DTC buses and 1,040 are DIMTS buses. A Mohalla bus can carry 23 passengers sitting and 13 standing. The route of these buses will be a maximum of 10 kilometers. However, it can be made smaller or larger as required. The Mohalla bus will run 120 kilometers on a single charge.

On which route will the trial run?

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that currently two routes have been identified for trial of Mohalla buses. The trial will last for one week. These are the ways.

  • Majlis Park to Pradhan Enclave.
  • Mayur Vihar Phase 3 to Akshardham.

Once the trial and route are finalised, these buses will run across Delhi. Kailash Gehlot said that such routes are being built for the first time. For this, the Delhi government has spoken to IITs and some mobile data companies, so that it can know which routes people use more. The roads are being worked on. Separate depots have been made for them.
