Kanchenjunga train accident
A major train accident took place in West Bengal’s Siliguri on June 17. A goods train hit the Kanchenjunga Express train near Rangpani station here. 10 people died and more than 40 people were injured in this accident. Now the investigation report of the train accident has come out. This report talks about both technical and human error. According to the report, some of the signal bulbs were fused.
The lightning caused short circuits in some circuits and fuses of the relay hut between Rangpani and Chatterhot railway stations. Due to which some signals turned red. When such a situation arises station staff, loco pilots and guards get written orders on some paper, same has happened in this case.
Where did the mistake happen?
According to the investigation report, the driver of the Kanchenjunga Express train operated the train as per the railway rules. He stopped the train at every red light. But the authorities concerned did not properly explain the rules to the people pilot of the goods train.

Taking a lesson from this accident, the Railways has decided that the authorization form will be changed, so that there is no possibility of sending a wrong message. Training of loco pilots and assistant loco pilots is being improved. The authority forms of different zones will be revised so that common forms are issued to pilots across the country. To enhance the reliability of signaling equipment, an action plan is being prepared under the chairmanship of RDSO in collaboration with Jones.
Three bogies were heavily damaged
Loco pilot of goods train, assistant loco pilot and guard of Kanchenjunga Express were also killed in the accident. The accident took place at 8.45 am. Kanchenjunga Express was hit by a speeding freight train. Three bogies of the express train have been heavily damaged in this accident. The engine of the freight train was also badly damaged.
