Missing Ladies defeated these films in the Oscar race
Missing Women will be India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Film category at Oscars 2025. Film Federation of India has selected this film directed by Kiran Rao. A list of around 29 films was placed before the jury members of the Film Federation of India, from which they had to select a film. Missing Ladies won the lottery, but there are many names involved in the films that have been left behind in this race.
Its director Kiran Rao is very happy to send Missing Ladies to the Oscars. He has said that this is a proof of how hard the entire team of the film has worked. He also thanked everyone including the cast and crew of the film. She said she was honored by the committee’s decision.
Bumper grossing films
In the race to become the official entry in the foreign category, there were several films which have earned bumper box office. These include the names of the Telugu mythological science fiction films Kalki 2898 AD and Hanuman. Apart from this, there are also Hindi films like Animal, Sam Bahadur and Article 370. These films made huge money at the box office after their release. Kalki 2898 AD respectively Rs. 1041.65 crores, Cattle 915 crores, Hanu-man 295 crores, Article 370 Rs. 105.01 crore and Rs. 130.3 crores worldwide business.

The film was praised by critics. But it could not become an official entry in the Oscars. Apart from this, recently released Chiyan Vikram’s Tanglan was also in the race. The list of 29 films also included films like Vazai, Kottukali, Jama and Jigarthanda 2.
How many Hindi films were in the race?
This time there were many Hindi films in the race to get an entry in the Oscars. These include films like Manoj Bajpayee’s Joram, Raghav Juyal and Lakshya Lalwani’s action-packed Kill, Ajay Devgn’s Maidan, Karthik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion and Rajkumar Rao’s Srikanth. Apart from this, films like Animal, Sam Bahadur and Article 370, Swatantra Veer Savarkar and Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light were also included in this list.
The names of two Marathi cinema films have come up which were in the list of 29 films that went before the jury. In which the name of Swaragandharva Sudhir Phadke is included. The film is based on the life of Marathi music director Sudhir Phadke. This movie is directed by Yogesh Deshpande. Apart from this, the film Gharat Ganapati directed by Navjyot Bandivadekar was also in this list.
