Mian Altaf’s fourth generation in politics, son Mehr Ali files candidacy, Omar Abdullah says ‘win is certain’

Omar Abdullah is confident of Mian Mehr Ali’s victory

Assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. So all the parties are busy preparing for the elections. This election is very important for BJP. Along with the political parties, the people of Kashmir were also eagerly waiting for the elections. Meanwhile, senior National Conference leader and MP Mian Altaf’s son Mian Mehr Ali has filed his nomination papers as National Conference (NC) candidate from Kangan assembly constituency.

On this occasion, National Conference leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah was also present with him in the Returning Officer’s office. Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah said that Mehr Ali will be the fourth generation of the Mian family to contest from Kangan. He said, ‘I am sure that he will follow his forefathers and father in the service of the people and carry on the legacy of his family.’Umar said that he had full faith in Mehr Ali’s victory.

Ram Madhav is close to PDP.

Speaking to reporters, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Ram Madhav’s visits to Jammu and Kashmir said that Madhav has only remained close to the PDP and it seems that he is still in touch with the party. Omar also said that Ram Madhav was behind the formation of the PDP-BJP alliance in 2015.

‘We will check illegal opening of liquor shops’

Regarding the increasing number of liquor shops in Kashmir, Omar said that after the elections, the National Conference will investigate the indiscriminate opening of liquor shops in Kashmir. He said that now the matter will be investigated after the election.

Elections are going to be held after 10 years

Assembly elections are going to be held in the state after 2014. This election will be held in three phases. According to the Election Commission, the voting process in Jammu and Kashmir will be completed by October 1. The first phase of voting will be held on September 18, the second phase on September 25 and the third and final phase on October 1. The result will be declared on October 8. The commission had earlier fixed the date of counting on October 4, but due to the change in the date of elections in Haryana, the counting of votes will now take place on October 8 in both the states.
