For this, the government took a decision in the monsoon session of the assembly. ‘Himachal Pradesh Child Marriage Prohibition Bill-2024’ presented, which was passed unanimously without debate. Now this bill will be sent to Governor for approval. So far, the age of marriage for girls in the state is 18 years.
Health, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhaniram Shandil introduced Child Marriage Prohibition (Himachal Pradesh Amendment Bill, 2024). At present the minimum age for marriage of girls in the state is 18 years. The state government is increasing it by three years. Its revised draft was approved by the state cabinet 7 months ago. The amendment bill was passed in the House on Tuesday.
CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said in the Monsoon Session of the Legislative Assembly that our government has taken strict action against violators of the law. There is no place for crime in Himachal Pradesh. The government is fully prepared for a meaningful debate in the House, but the opposition is running away from it. A directionless opposition has no solid point.
Central government has not helped in difficult times
He said that when disaster struck the state, our government stood shoulder to shoulder with the disaster victims by providing immediate relief and basic amenities.
