A procession was taken out in Srinagar on the 8th day of Muharram.
Like last year, this year also the administration in Srinagar has given permission to take out the Muharram procession. A procession to mark the 8th of Muharram on Monday (July 15) was taken out from the city’s Guru Bazar to Dalgate amid tight security, but during which some youths waved Palestinian flags. After which the police took action and arrested many youths.
In this matter, senior leader of National Conference and Srinagar MP Syed Ruhullah Mehdi attacked the Jammu and Kashmir administration. Demanding the release of the arrested youth, he wrote on the social media platform that the arrest of the youth is an attack on freedom of expression. NC MP Ruhullah Mehdi has said that the police should release these youths and refrain from treating them like criminals.
JK Police has arrested a number of youths for shouting pro-Palestinian slogans and carrying the Palestinian flag during the Muharram procession in Srinagar yesterday. This is an attack on freedom of expression and it is also an expression in favor of the oppressed

Such a case has also come up in UP
A few days ago, a similar case came to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district. It is alleged that some people hoisted the flag of Palestine in the procession that started at the sight of the Muharram moon. After which the police took action and registered an FIR and also arrested one of the accused.
There was a controversy over Owaisi’s ‘Jai Palestine’
AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was sworn in as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha in Parliament on 25 June. Meanwhile, he raised slogans of ‘Jai Palestine’. NDA leaders objected to Owaisi’s sloganeering, not only that, former Amaravati MP Navneet Rana also wrote a letter to the President demanding the cancellation of Owaisi’s parliamentary membership.
