Internet ban lifted in Manipur

The Manipur government on Monday lifted the internet ban from five districts of the state. Commissioner (Home) N. According to Ashok Kumar, the state government has decided to lift the internet ban after reviewing the current law and order situation. In view of the ongoing violence in the state, the government had banned the internet on September 10 as a precautionary measure. Earlier, on September 13, the state government had lifted the conditional ban on broadband services.

The Home Department has issued an order. It has been said that the state government has decided to remove any kind of ban on internet in Manipur. In fact, the students were protesting demanding the removal of the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Security Advisor. They allege that the DGP and Security Adviser are unable to deal with the constant terror attacks in the state, so the government should remove them with immediate effect.

Internet was banned on 10th September

Due to student protests, the government temporarily suspended internet service in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts from September 10. A few days ago, protesters clashed with security forces in the state, injuring more than 80 people, including students and police personnel, with many suffering serious injuries. Looking at the situation, the government has banned internet services.

Appeal not to post unnecessary posts

The order issued by the home department has appealed to people to refrain from activities that may lead to suspension of internet services again in the future. The department has requested people to maintain peace in the state. A day ago the Chief Minister of the state N. Biren Singh shared a post on social media. In which it was said that ‘the ban imposed on the internet in the state will be lifted and the services will be restored. I request all people to use the Internet responsibly and refrain from posting or sharing unnecessary or inflammatory content that disturbs peace and harmony in the state.

Violence has continued since last year

Manipur has been on fire since a rally turned violent in May last year. More than 200 people have died in this violence so far, including not only civilians but also policemen. More than 50 thousand people are internally displaced. The government is keeping full vigilance so that peace can be established in the state.
