Mamata Banerjee is upset with the rising prices of vegetables

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure over the rising prices of vegetables. He held the Modi government at the Center responsible for this and accused it of completely failing to control prices. Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with state ministers and officials on Tuesday. And gave an ultimatum to reduce the prices of vegetables within 10 days. He alleged that a section of people keeps vegetables in the freezer to earn more profit and the common man has to suffer the consequences. The Chief Minister has also asked to take strict action against those responsible for this.

Police and Task Force notified to conduct raids

During the meeting, Mamata said, “Potato farmers do not get more than Rs 15 per kg. But it is being sold in the market for Rs 35 to 40.” Mamata asked the police to raid the markets. Besides, the state task force constituted for inflation control was also instructed to visit the markets immediately and monitor the prices of vegetables. Mamata Banerjee said that artificial demand is being created by some people to earn more profit.

Concern has been expressed about the rising prices of vegetables

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the prices of potato, onion, garlic, brinjal, jaggery and cucumber have increased rapidly compared to last year. Speaking to officials, traders and other stakeholders present at the meeting, Banerjee said, “Monsoon has arrived, but prices of vegetables are still skyrocketing. People are afraid to go to the market. “We are very concerned about this situation.”

Mamata questioned the officials that out of the 45 lakh metric tonne potato capacity, 30 lakh metric tonne potatoes are still stored in our cold storage. Why are there so many potatoes in our storage when the prices of vegetables are skyrocketing?

Example of mutton given in terms of inflation

After this, the Chief Minister gave an example and said, ‘If a chicken is sick, it is killed.’ The result is that people do not eat chicken out of fear. Then the price of goats increases. It all works in big circles. Not visible to the eye. Mamata told the officials that several lakh metric tons of potatoes are lying in cold storage. Take out the market gradually.
