Maldives regains consciousness, makes an important statement about India during China tour

Mohammed Muizzu’s minister is on a visit to China, where he is seen praising India a lot.

Maldives Minister Mohamed Saeed, who is on his first visit to China, commented on the recent visit of President Mohamed Muizzu to India. Economic Development and Trade Minister Mohamed Saeed’s statement comes at a time when Male has re-established ties with New Delhi following the visit of President Muizzu to India. Muizzu came to India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9.

“President Muizzu has reiterated that India is our closest neighbour,” Mohammed Saeed, who is attending the 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) in Dalian, said in an interview with CNBC International TV in response to a question on India-Maldives ‘tension’. “India and Maldives have had good relations for a long time. India is most important for us, especially in terms of tourists coming from India. India has huge investments in Maldives, especially in the tourism sector.”

What did Muizzu say after his visit to India?

After returning to Male from New Delhi, President Muizzu described his official visit to India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi as an important achievement for the Maldives. Muizzu also stressed that strong relations between the two countries will bring prosperity to Maldives and Maldivian citizens. Saeed is the first Maldivian minister to visit China. Earlier in January, Muizzu visited Beijing. During this, 20 agreements were signed between the two countries regarding tourism and other issues.
