Harihareshwar, a small tourist town located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, is situated between the three mountains of Harihareshwar, Harshinachal and Pushpadri. Harihareshwar is also known as Kashi of South India which is known all over India for its Konkani temples and beautiful beaches. There is a 2.4 km long beach in front of the Harihareshwar temple. Ganesh Gali: This attractive place is located just 1 km away from Harihareshwar Temple. The width of this Ganesh Gali is about 3 feet which looks like a narrow lane. When the tide is low, tourists can walk along the path between the two rocks to see the idol of Lord Ganesha. The statue is about 30 feet deep in the sea and can easily be seen at low tide.
Tourists have a different experience of seeing the sea from here. Ganesh Gali is located in the Harihareshwar temple premises and one has to go through hilly roads to reach here. For security reasons, disabled, elderly and children are prohibited from visiting this place.
Divegar Beach: Divegar Beach is also located at a distance of about 40 km from Harihareshwar, which is part of Raigad district. The natural beauty of this place makes tourists crazy about it. The place is famous for the greenery of the forest and the blue water of the sea. At the same time, the small particles of white sand present on the beach add to its beauty. Srivardhan Beach: This place is also very close to Harihareshwar tourist spot. There are many temples for tourists near Srivardhan Beach. Among these is the Sri Lakshminarayan temple which became famous because of the Maratha Peshwas. Near this temple, Golden Ganesha Temple and Harihareshwar Temple are built which are of great importance in Hinduism. An ancient temple of Somja Devi is built here. Local people believe about this temple that Goddess Somja removes all the poison from the human body in case of snake bite. Here devotees crawl on their bellies and circumambulate the Somja temple. Apart from this, boating facilities are also available on the beach for the entertainment of tourists.
