The Allahabad High Court commented
It seems that Kalyug has arrived… the Allahabad High Court had to say this while hearing a case. In fact, the court was hearing an ongoing dispute between an eighty-year-old couple over alimony. Meanwhile, the court said it seems that Kalyug has arrived, as an elderly couple aged around 75-80 is fighting a legal battle against each other for maintenance.
Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamsheri made the remarks while hearing the criminal revision petition of 80-year-old Munesh Kumar Gupta of Aligarh. The petitioner has challenged the subordinate court’s order to pay an allowance of Rs 5,000 per month to his wife Gayatri Devi.
Why the controversy?
The dispute arose when Gayatri Devi sought financial help from her husband in the family court. Gayatri Devi told the court that her husband gets a pension of Rs 35,000 per month. The family court ordered Gayatri Devi’s husband to pay Rs 5,000 per month as maintenance allowance.
