The film should release after 8 weeks
Pinkvilla has released a report. According to this, 2 Indian people have received legal notice. It has been accused of violating OTT release rules. In fact, the Multiplex Association has made some rules for Hindi film releases. Under this the producers have to release the film on OTT only 8 weeks after its theatrical release. Whoever does not comply, his film will not be allowed to be released in the three major national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis. The team of ‘Indian 2’, dubbed ‘Hindustani 2’ in Hindi, accepted the condition. After this he was allowed to release the film in national chains.
It was supposed to be released on September 6th!
Reportedly, the Indian Multiplex Association is now in shock over how the makers of Bharatiya 2 released the Hindi version on Netflix ahead of time. The film was released on 12 July. As such, it was scheduled to release on OTT on September 6. But even before this it was made available to the viewers. Multiplex people did not like this. Due to which the makers have been issued a notice.
MAI wants to send a strong message
Indeed, Indian 2 has now hit the theaters. But the Multiplex Association of India wants to send a strong message, so that no one does this in future. In fact, the association says that if one producer is given this concession, others will do the same. An attempt is being made to set a precedent by sending a legal notice. MAI is very clear about this that OTT film for Hindi belt should be released only after 8 weeks.
Why is the 8 week rule made?
In fact, multiplex owners have made such a rule because many films will be screened in theaters and released on OTT, then why would viewers go to theaters. And if the film hits OTT soon after its release, the theater business will be affected. Viewers will feel that in a few weeks they will be able to watch the movie at home, so why bother going to the cinema hall!
Actually Indian 2 is a big flop film. Left the theater early. Maybe that’s why the makers made it available to stream on OTT a while back. But rules are rules, says the Multiplex Association. Now let’s see what the people of ‘Hindustani 2’ respond to the notice.
