Lakhs worth of fake notes, 10 pistols, mobile-laptop… SP leader was running gang, 10 arrested

Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar Police has busted a gang printing fake notes. 10 members including the main leader of the gang have been arrested and sent to jail. Fake notes worth 5 lakh 62 thousand rupees have been recovered from the possession of the gang. Besides this, in lieu of fake notes, Rs. 110,000 in cash including Nepalese currency, eight laptops, 26 SIM cards, 10 pistols, some firecrackers and live cartridges, four twine bombs and two luxury vehicles have been recovered. The main leader is said to be the Samajwadi Party leader.

According to the police, the arrested gang members were circulating fake notes not only in India but also in Nepal. Explaining the incident, Kushinagar SP Santosh Kumar said that the main job of this gang was to seize the disputed lands and people of Tamkuhiraj tehsil by threatening them. He said the police had received inputs about gangs in the district. The gang was kept under surveillance with the help of cyber team. They were caught after seeing their suspicious activities.

According to Kushinagar SP, 13 mobile phones, 10 fake Aadhaar cards, 10 ATMs have also been recovered from the accused in a joint police operation. A case has been registered against all of them under sections of the Explosive Substances Act etc. The accused were produced in court and sent to jail. The team that revealed this has been rewarded by the Superintendent of Police. In which Tamkuhi Raj in-charge inspector Amit Sharma, Taraya Sujan in-charge inspector Raj Prakash Singh, cyber police station in-charge inspector Manoj Kumar Pant and Sevarahi police station chief Mr. Prakash Rai are involved.

The main leader of the gang caught by the police is said to be Rafiq Ahmed. Apart from fake currency notes, illegal weapons have also been recovered from the gang. Accused Rafiq is associated with Samajwadi Party. He is the National Secretary of Samajwadi Lohia Vahini. 11 serious crimes have been registered against him in various police stations of the district. The police also arrested Rafiq and sent him to jail after producing him in the court.
