Let us tell you that on August 9, the dead body of a PG trainee doctor of the medical college was found in the seminar hall of the emergency ward. The police have arrested the accused Sanjay Roy and the CBI is interrogating several people, including the former principal.

Why does CBI want polygraph test?

The CBI decided to conduct a polygraphy test on him as the fingerprints of the two doctors were found in the seminar room. Along with this, the house staff has been seen on CCTV going from the emergency ward on the first floor to the third floor. Another intern was on the third floor and spoke with the victim.

CBI has received some more medical reports, so CBI wants to confirm their statements. However, these people do not seem to be involved in the incident. CBI wants to know if these 4 people have tampered with evidence or are they involved in some other conspiracy?

Night sequence of events

  • According to sources, the timeline of the incident that took place on the night of August 9 is as follows. The dead body of the victim was found in the seminar hall of the emergency ward on 9th night.
  • The victim and two first year students (Araka and Soumitra) had dinner together at 12 pm.
  • After this he went to the seminar room, where he stayed from 1:30-2:00 pm and watched Neeraj Chopra’s javelin final.
  • Opposite the seminar room is a sleeping room, where doctors rest. A polysomnography test was in progress that night, completed at 1:30-2:00.
  • After this Arka and Soumitra went to the sleep room, while the victim started resting in the seminar room. Golam said he went to the third floor at 2:45, while Subhdeep said he was in the intern room.
  • All three rooms (seminar hall, sleep room and intern room) are close to each other on the third floor. The CBI has found some contradictions in the statements of the four, so the agency wants to conduct a polygraph test.

14 days judicial custody of accused Sanjay Roy

Kolkata Police arrested civic volunteer Sanjay Roy in the rape-murder case. His remand was ending on Friday. He was produced in Sealdah Court. Sealdah Court has ordered to send Sanjay Roy to judicial custody for 14 days.

Standing counsel Kavita Sarkar on behalf of South 24 Parganas LADCS applied for bail on behalf of Sanjay Roy. The judge rejected the bail plea and sent him to jail till September 6. Judge Shubhjit Rakshit ordered to send Sanjay to judicial custody. Sanjay Roy is lodged in Kolkata’s Presidency Jail.
