September 9 will mark a month since the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Protests are still ongoing in Kolkata demanding justice. Earlier, protests and lights were shut down by Reclaim the Night across the country, including Kolkata. Now the movement has been announced again on the night of September 8 to demand justice before September 9. At a press conference in Kolkata on Friday, protestor Rimzim and other women called for a protest on the night of September 8.
Let us tell you that the dead body of a trainee doctor was found at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Kolkata Police has arrested Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, on charges of rape and murder in this case. After the order of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI is now investigating the matter.
The CBI has also arrested Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Cars, accused in the rape case, but there is still a movement demanding justice in the case.

There will be another performance on the night of September 8
Protester Rimzim said that on the night of September 8, they will again take to the streets to protest. The protest has been named ‘Dawn of new songs to wake up the ruler’.
While talking about the event, Rimzim mentioned Satyajit Ray’s film ‘Gupi Gen Bagha Ben’. He said that he wanted to awaken the rulers in the same way Gupi Gayen had awakened the king. Rimzim said there will be a cultural protest at night. Choirs, dance troupes and various personalities from the cultural world have been invited to the programme.
The body of the trainee doctor was found on August 9
On the morning of August 9, the body of a female doctor was found in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College. More than 25 days have passed since then. The CBI is investigating the case. The RG tax case will be heard in the Supreme Court on September 9. A night before that, the agitators will take to the streets.
Earlier, on the night of August 10, Rimzim posted on social media calling for the night to be reclaimed. The call led to midnight protests in various cities across the country, including Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, demanding the protection of women.
