The incident of rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College has sparked outrage across the country. People are protesting the incident, but during the protest the situation worsened when people broke the barricade and entered the hospital. Hundreds of people started vandalizing the hospital and even beat up the doctors. Meanwhile, the doctors and students present inside the hospital kept pleading for help.

On Wednesday, August 14, people protested against the brutality meted out to a junior doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. In some places, women took out a candle march, while in some places, women took to the streets with torches. Slogans demanding justice were raised across the city. Meanwhile, the crowd that had gathered for the demonstration became unruly and broke the barricade and entered the hospital. A message said that all the lights in the hostel have been switched off, the women faculty of the college are present in the hostel itself, which is quite dangerous. At the same time, some doctors at the hospital have also sent messages saying please save us, asking for their lives to be spared, while some have even said they don’t think they can survive. As the situation went out of control, the police resorted to baton charge and fired tear gas shells. Considering the situation, a large number of police arrangements have been made. A police picket has also been arranged in front of the emergency ward.
