The High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe with forensic and medical experts into the rape-murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal’s Kolkata. The CBI took over the investigation of the rape and murder case on Tuesday itself. Now the question is, what difficulties will the CBI have to face in the investigation of this case?
Following the Calcutta High Court’s order, the investigating agency soon completed all the formalities related to the case, after which the court ordered the state police to hand over all documents related to the incident to the CBI. On Wednesday morning i.e. 14th August, forensic and medical experts and CBI teams will reach Kolkata and start the investigation into the incident. During this investigation, the CBI may face a lot of difficulty regarding the evidence related to the case.
What are the challenges facing the CBI?
The room adjacent to the resident doctor’s room is being repaired and the evidence related to the seminar room is being deliberately tampered with, now the biggest challenge for the CBI is to find out whether the evidence has been tampered with and if tampered with. If so, what was the condition of the evidence before that. After this, the question arises as to why the accused Sanjay was brought forward in this case and who is being tried to hide under the guise of Sanjay. Some chat and phone records related to this matter have also gone viral, the CBI has also to find out its truth. There is a lot of pressure in the case which adds to the difficulties of the CBI, as the difference in political pressure can affect the statement of the victim’s family members.

Evidence and statements have to be examined
In this case the CBI has to check the veracity of all the evidences and all the statements given in the case, for this it has to reconstruct the entire murder scene and see how well the statement of the accused Sanjay matches it. Apart from all this, the biggest challenge in the CBI investigation will be that there is no eye witness to the entire incident, for which they may have to be interrogated several times in the matter. Regarding the matter, it is being said that people came to know about it on the night of the murder, which raises the question of how Tilottama was a whistle blower, for which she was suppressed. However, since the victim’s body was burnt, there is no possibility of investigation, so the CBI has to rely on the post-mortem report conducted by the state government police.
