CBI arrested former principal Sandeep Ghosh

On August 9, a junior doctor was raped at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. In this case, the CBI has now arrested former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh and former Talha police station officer Abhijeet Mandal have been arrested. Earlier, ED also tightened its hold on Dr. Ghosh.

In this case, CBI is probing every aspect and unraveling every level of the case. In the same case, the accused Sanjay Roy is also in police custody. Also, junior doctors are protesting in Kolkata’s red market and demanding justice for the victim.

What is the charge against Sandeep Ghosh?

According to sources, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh and former police station officer Abhijeet Mandal have been arrested for non-cooperation in the investigation, delay in filing the FIR and tampering with evidence. Earlier Dr Sandeep Ghosh was arrested by ED in a corruption case. The ED interrogated him for over 150 hours in the case and later arrested him in a corruption case.

In the Supreme Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench of the Chief Justice that the crime spot has been changed. However, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the West Bengal government, denied this. The Supreme Court asked the West Bengal government about the unnecessary delay in lodging the FIR and the lapses in the general diary maintained by the Kolkata Police.

What is the charge against Abhijeet Mandal?

Abhijit Mandal, a former Talha police station officer, has been interrogated by the CBI several times in the case and the Kolkata Police has also been accused of improperly investigating the case. Besides, some officials are also under investigation as their closeness with prime accused Sanjay Roy has come to light.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Sanjay Roy refused to consent to the narco test. In this case, CBI has conducted polygraph test of ten people so far. Also, the ED has initiated a separate inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities in the medical college.

The protest of junior doctors continues

On August 9, a 31-year-old junior doctor was raped and murdered at Rjikar Medical College in Kolkata. After this brutality with the doctor, the voice of justice for the victim began to be raised across the country and people everywhere took to the streets. It’s been more than a month since the case, but the protest by junior doctors in Kolkata continues, standing firm even in heavy rains and demanding justice for the victim.
