Mamata Banerjee and the protesting doctors

Protests by other junior doctors continue against the rape-murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College last month. They say they will continue their protest until their demands are met. However, after several attempts, when the junior doctors met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, it lasted for six hours.

Regarding the meeting, CM Mamata Banerjee said what are the demands of the doctors and how many of them have been agreed upon. He said that we held a meeting with junior doctors. He presented his points. He had 5 demands, the first of which was that the matter should be investigated by the CBI, which is being done. Apart from this, they had 4 demands, one of which was that the Principal Secretary of DME, DHS and Health should be removed. We explained to them how the administration would work if all were removed together. As per their demands we have decided to remove DME, DHS.
