The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national coordinator Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. The investigating agency produced the AAP leader in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court and said that the agency could have done this before the Lok Sabha elections, but it did not. During the court hearing, Kejriwal presented his opinion in the court and said that he, Manish Sisodia and Aam Aadmi Party are all innocent.

The investigating agency questioned the AAP supremo in Tihar jail on Tuesday and recorded his statement related to the excise policy case. On the other hand, Kejriwal withdrew his plea from the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s order granting an interim stay on the lower court’s bail order. A vacation bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice SVN Bhati allowed Kejriwal to withdraw his plea. The AAP leader’s counsel, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, told the bench that since the High Court had passed the detailed order on June 25, he wanted to file a concrete appeal.

Rejected the CBI charge

Arvind Kejriwal told the court that it is being said in some media that he has put all the blame on Manish Sisodia. This news is being published citing CBI sources. This is absolutely wrong. I never said that. Manish Sisodia, I and Aam Aadmi Party are completely innocent. Please take this on record.

During the hearing, the court sought to know from the CBI that regarding the arrest, the agency said that Kejriwal could influence the witnesses. The CBI said that it is true that the witnesses were influenced. To this, Kejriwal said that he wanted a headline on the front page of newspapers that he put the entire blame on Sisosia. Kejriwal himself was standing and speaking.

Kejriwal said this on Sisodia

The CBI lawyer said that Kejriwal himself had earlier said that the new policy was Sisodia’s idea. Meanwhile, the court commented that the way the public prosecutor is saying. That is not Kejriwal’s statement. Kejriwal said that all his allegations are false.

On that, the CBI lawyer said that if those people read the statement, the problem will increase. Kejriwal said that I had said that excise policy has three objectives. We had to increase revenue and eliminate long queues. I called Manish Sisodia and gave these three directions. He asked who had the idea of privatization? I said it was not my idea.
