KCC loan waiver, free electricity to mosques… Mehbooba Mufti’s big announcement ahead of elections

The Election Commission has announced the election dates in Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, the political heat has increased in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP has also released its manifesto in this regard. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had already released the manifesto of the party. In such a situation, the excitement of the election has started in Jammu and Kashmir.

After announcing the manifesto, Mehbooba Mufti said that she believes that the Kashmir issue is a very serious matter. Many people have lost their lives. Hundreds of women and children have become orphans. PDP’s policy is to talk and open ways with Pakistan and separatists. Our party will continue to work for this purpose. We want reconciliation and dialogue. Mufti said that along with reconciliation, cross-LoC trade and review of cases registered against people are also discussed in our manifesto. Freedom of expression is also included in our manifesto.

  • Free electricity up to 200 units and abolition of tax on water
  • Claim to double old age pension and widow pension
  • Leases and mining contracts to local people
  • KCC loan will be waived off
  • Will impose 100% stamp duty on import of apples
  • Regular employment and increase in honorarium for daily wage labourers
  • Free legal aid to undertrial and incarcerated persons
  • Free electricity to temples and mosques
  • Punjabi will be included as an official language
  • Transgenders will be given equal rights
  • The Press Club of Kashmir will be handed over to the media
  • Separate budget dedicated for Muharram
  • Establishment of small secretariats in all districts
  • Heritage, especially old buildings will be conserved in Srinagar city

Do not want to form a government for power

Addressing the press, Mufti said that we do not want to form a government for power, but our government will work for the issues of Jammu and Kashmir. He has also talked about lifting the ban on confiscated properties in his manifesto. He further said that the issue of Kashmir is alive and we will fight for it. The issue of Jammu and Kashmir is not statehood or Article 370 but a political issue. On the issue of alliance, he said that if Congress and NC accept our agenda, we will let them contest on all the seats. We don’t mind.
