Amitabh Bachchan said that Khuda Gawah was shot outside India in Afghanistan. During the shooting, local people living in Afghanistan would come to his location to watch the shooting and he would stand there and sing his traditional songs. One of the tunes of these traditional songs was very beautiful. When the film team got information about this, they realized that it was the tune of a very popular folk song of Afghanistan and then used this tune in the film. Today this song is famous all over the world.

Amitabh Bachchan also said that shooting in Afghanistan was not easy for him at all. Amitabh Bachchan had to shoot with horses in the Mazar-e-Sharif area there. That shoot was very challenging for him. But every day a crowd of people used to gather to watch his shooting and one day when Amitabh Bachchan asked some people from this crowd whether they had come here to watch the shooting, they said that they had not come to watch the shooting. But they came there to welcome him. Later Amitabh Bachchan also came to know that it was they who had given accommodation to his entire team, as there was no hotel. Sridevi also played an important role in this film along with Amitabh Bachchan.
