First Sacrificial Pillar Ready in Kashmir (Screenshot)
JK Sacrifice Pillar: The work of the Sacrifice Pillar installed at Pratap Park in Srinagar city in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed. It will be opened to the public on August 15 for Independence Day celebrations. Srinagar Smart City Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Owais Ahmed gave this information on Wednesday.
Srinagar Smart City Limited CEO Owais Ahmed said that the work on the Balidan Stambha has been completed and is ready to host the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. He said he was given a deadline to complete the sacrificial pillar before August 15 so that the ceremony could be performed on August 15.
A symbol of those who sacrificed in defense of the nation
Owais Ahmed said that this is a great achievement and the result of hard work of all the workers and team of Srinagar Smart City. He said, “Balidan Stambha symbolizes the sacrifice of people who laid down their lives for the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
He invited everyone to visit the Sacrifice Pillar and experience the place where those who sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation. Especially the people who have lost their lives for the country in Jammu and Kashmir, so that tributes can be paid to them.
Amit Shah laid the foundation
The names of 4877 martyrs are inscribed on 52 pillars about 40-50 meters high across the country. Some columns are dedicated to the 543 soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil war. 71 of these martyrs were from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir. This sacrificial pillar is located in Lal Chowk in the center of Srinagar.

An expenditure of around Rs 5 crore was sanctioned for this sacrificial pillar in Srinagar, which has been spent according to its contractor. Just need to install some more decorative items. It may be noted that the foundation stone of this sacrificial pillar was laid by Home Minister Amit Shah at Pratap Park in Srinagar in June last year and its construction was completed as per the deadline.
