Will ’emergency’ be banned?
The controversy over Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’ is not stopping. As the release date of the film draws closer, it is mired in controversies. The film was opposed by the Sikh community in Punjab. According to him, the sentiments of the Sikh community have been hurt in this film. Meanwhile, news is coming from Telangana that the Telangana government is considering banning Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’. Regarding this, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has also reassured the leaders of the Sikh community.
Kangana’s demand to ban emergency
Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’ is facing a lot of opposition, with Sikh organizations alleging that the film has historically misrepresented the Sikh community and tarnished their image. Earlier, there was a lot of opposition to this film in Punjab as well. At the same time, a Sikh organization in Telangana has now protested the ’emergency’, which led to the Sikh organization in the state meeting high-profile government officials on Thursday.
PTI has published a report. It is said that a delegation of the Telangana Sikh community led by former IPS Tejdeep Kaur Menon has met a senior state official. In this meeting, he spoke to government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir about the film’s wrong portrayal of Sikhs and demanded a ban on ‘Emergency’.
The Sikh community was portrayed as “aggressive”.
According to Shabbir, Sikh leaders are very upset with some scenes of the Emergency, which they say portray the community in a negative light. The delegation argued that the film’s portrayal of Sikhs as hostile figures was “insulting” and also damaging to the reputation of their community. Kangana’s film ‘Emergency’ portrayed Sikhs as “terrorists” and “anti-nationals”, an insult to their community.
Telangana government can impose ban
Considering all these concerns, Shabbir has raised the issue with Chief Minister Reddy, who has now assured that the government will consider banning the film in the state after relevant consultations. The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Samiti (SGPC), which is responsible for managing the gurdwara, issued a notice to the makers of the film, with Kangana Ranaut also alleging that the film misrepresents Sikh history and contains scenes that hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
SGPC’s legal notice demanded immediate removal of the controversial scenes from emergency. The makers were asked to apologize to the Sikh community. The SGPC also demanded that the trailer of the film, which will release on August 14, be removed from all public and social media platforms.
When will the emergency be released?
