In this chat show, John Abraham revealed that the filmmaker offered him a small role in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum’. The actor said, “They asked me to play the character of Robbie who was Kareena’s boyfriend in the film. Karan himself offered me the film and said, ‘John, this is a very good role.’
John turned down the role of Robbie
In the same show of Karan Johar, John Abraham said, “Karan liked a scene and a dialogue in the film, but I refused to do this role. I told Karan, ‘Karan, don’t feel bad, but I don’t want to do this role.’
“Never thought John would become an actor”
On this of John, Karan also said that he never thought that John would become a good actor. Karan said, “I knew John because I was one of the judges when John walked the ramp at Gladrags. He came to me asking about his career and I said, why does he want to be a hero? I thought she was the kind of model that would look good on the ramp but not at all on screen. That’s why, when he came to me, I told him, “Instead of thinking about acting, you should think about something else.” I never thought that John would become such a good actor.
John continued, “After winning the title in the talent hunt, I went to Karan for advice on which character he should play in the film and after that Karan told me about the role of Robbie. John joked, “I kept looking for Robbie throughout the film, but I couldn’t see Robbie because his role in the film was so small.” Karan smiled and told John, “I regret this. I never thought you would reach this place.”
