As many as 279 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 24 assembly seats in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where polling is scheduled for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on September 18. August 27 was the last day to file nomination papers for the first phase of assembly elections. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, information has been given to the candidates who have filed their nomination papers.

A total of 72 candidates have filed their candidature in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Apart from this, 55 candidates have filed in Pulwama district, 41 in Doda district, 32 in Kishtwar district, 28 in Shopian district, 28 in Kulgam district and 23 in Ramban district. A total of 13 candidates have filed their nominations for three assembly constituencies of Kishtwar district of Jammu division, 11 candidates have filed their nominations from 48 Inderwal assembly constituencies and 49 from Kishtwar assembly constituencies while 8 candidates have filed their nominations from 50 Paddar-Nagaseni assembly constituencies. is

So many lakh voters

There are more than 23.27 lakh voters, including 11.76 lakh male voters, 11.51 lakh female voters and 60 third gender voters, who are eligible to exercise their franchise during the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Among them, 5.66 lakh youth voters are also eligible to vote. The notification for the first phase was released on 20th August and the last date for filing nominations for this phase was 27th August till 3:00 pm.

Date of withdrawal of nomination

Now the nomination papers will be verified by the concerned returning officers on August 28. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers in the office of the Returning Officer by 3:00 PM on August 30, 2024. Now it remains to be seen whether the coin will work in Jammu and Kashmir this time, because on the one hand, BJP is going to contest the election on its own this time, on the other hand, Congress has also joined hands with the National Conference.
