Ramdas Soren from Kolhan in Jharkhand became the minister
Political heat is being seen in Jharkhand ahead of assembly elections. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has resigned from the post of Minister and MLA on Thursday. Following his resignation, ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Ramdas Soren was sworn in as a minister in the Hemant Soren-led government on Friday.
Ramdas Soren is an MLA from Ghatsila and has now replaced former Chief Minister Champai Soren in the Soren cabinet. In Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ramdas Soren in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in the presence of CM Hemant Soren, several senior leaders of the parties involved in the coalition government and several government officials.
Ramdas Soren is a 2 time MLA
Ramdas Soren, who played an active role during the Jharkhand movement, won the 2009 and 2019 assembly elections and is also the president of JMM’s East Singhbhum district unit. He played an active role in the Jharkhand movement along with JMM chief Shibu Soren and Champai Soren. Ramdas was arrested several times during the agitation.
Ramdas Soren is also counted among the influential leaders of the Kolhan region. After resigning from the JMM, Champai is going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday. Ramdas Soren has been made a minister in an attempt to strengthen the JMM, which has been weakened in Kolhan by his departure. Ramdas is known as a powerful leader in Kolhan.
Champai’s departure was a shock to the party.
Just a few months before the elections, Jharkhand politics heated up when Champai Soren shocked everyone by claiming that he was forced to leave the party because he was unhappy with the current working style and policies of the state government. While he served this party for many years. Champai had resigned from the post of state minister and MLA yesterday on Wednesday.
JMM leader Hemant Soren was arrested by the investigative agency Enforcement Directorate earlier in the year in January, resigning as chief minister shortly after, after which Champaign was made the new chief minister of Jharkhand on 2 February.
However, after Hemant was released on bail, Champai resigned as Chief Minister on 3 July and then on 4 July, Hemant Soren was once again sworn in as Chief Minister.
