Jharkhand News: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a charge sheet against another accused in the CPI (Maoist) arrest and seizure of arms case in Jharkhand. NIA has filed a charge sheet against Pradeep Singh Chero of Jharkhand. He is the 23rd accused in this case.
The NIA investigation revealed the involvement of several CPI (Maoist) armed cadres and grassroots aides. The probe into the case was handed over to the investigating agency in June 2022. The agency has since filed five supplementary chargesheets. Earlier, the Jharkhand Police, which is investigating the case, filed a charge sheet against nine people.
A charge sheet has been filed against the accused Pradeep Singh Chero under several sections of the IPC. Chero is accused of conspiring to attack security forces to avenge the arrest of banned CPI (Maoist) top commander Prashant Bose. A case has been registered against him under Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and UA(P) Act.
The attack on security forces took place in February 2023
Chero carried out the attack on security forces in Pesharar area of ​​Lohardaga district of Jharkhand in February 2023. At that time, a large number of Maoists under the leadership of CPI (Maoist) regional commander Ravindra Ganju gathered in Bulbul forest of Lohardaga to attack the security forces. Ganju was accompanied by CPI (Maoist) activists Balram Uran and Muneshwar Ganju and 45-60 more people.
Jharkhand Police and CRPF security forces launched a joint search operation, during which CPI (Maoist) activists attacked them and started indiscriminate firing. A large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered in the subsequent search operation. Currently NIA is investigating the matter.
