Are you an IT engineer or someone you know is an IT engineer? If yes, then your working hours have now been increased in this state. For this, the state government has also made changes in the rules related to labour laws. However, an official order has not been issued yet in this regard. However, these amended rules are expected to come into effect from July 1.
Actually, this change in the working hours of IT engineers has taken place in West Bengal. In this case, the state government has increased the daily working hours of IT engineers by 30 minutes, i.e. half an hour from July 1. Now IT engineers will have to spend more time in the office than before.
What will be the impact on work-life balance?
Will the state government’s increase in working hours affect their work-life balance? Then this is not going to happen, because the weekly working hours of IT engineers will remain the same as before. They will have to work only a maximum of 48 hours a week. The government may soon issue an official order in this regard.

The IT industry has been in demand for a long time.
In this regard, State Minister for IT Industry Babul Supriyo said that the IT industry has been demanding this for a long time. The state government has now worked to meet their demand. Babul Supriyo said that this decision was taken only to keep pace with the competition from other states and promote the IT sector in West Bengal.
Now the office shift will be this number of hours.
The Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given the green signal to increase the daily office time limit for IT engineers from 8:30 hours to 9 hours. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the long-standing demand of the IT industry. The reason for this is that generally IT companies work on a 5-day-a-week working pattern.
Babul Supriyo said that from now on the maximum limit of working hours per week will be only 48 hours. While with this change, IT companies can bill their clients for 45 hours instead of 42.5 hours. With this, IT companies will obtain a benefit of 2.5 hours per day on their invoices. They will receive financial aid and will be able to compete with other states. This change will be effective from July 1.
According to the West Bengal Labor Department, currently the daily working time limit for IT and non-IT sectors is only 8.30 hours.
