‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’ has released in theatres. I didn’t get to watch the film during the screening due to a busy schedule and then the Millennial in me started feeling the ‘FOMO’ (fear of missing out) of being left behind by the ‘Gen Z’ generation as usual. And so watched this film by spending money himself. If you are going to watch this movie hoping to see a sweet, cute, romantic love story like ‘Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar’, then this movie might disappoint you a lot. In this film, the accomplished cleric has tried to tell the story of the youth born after 1997.

A few days ago, a PR told us that we needed to interview someone from our client’s ‘Gen Z’. And since then I have been trying to understand this particular species. And I benefited from this while watching ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’. The 90’s kids in me (who aren’t kids anymore, are starting to grow up) will get a lot of things wrong with this movie. But if you look at it from the perspective of ‘Gen Z’, the film is ‘dope’ for them, and that’s why I’ve written this review with the mindset of the youth for whom this film is aimed. had been done.

The story of the film starts with Raghav (Rohit Saraf). Raghav, who has come to Mumbai to become a writer, tries to tell the story of his film ‘Ishq Vishk 2.0’ to his boss (Kusha Kapila). But the boss doesn’t like that story very much. But Raghav doesn’t stop, he starts telling us his unfinished story. We go directly to Dehradun in flashback from Mumbai. Raghav, Sahir (Gibran Khan) and Sanya (Pashmina Roshan) are each other’s BFF (Best Friend Forever). Out of these three, Sahir and Sanya are a couple. So Raghav dates Riya (Naila Grewal). But suddenly something happens to these two couples that they are separated from each other. Now, you have to go and watch ‘Ishq Vishq Rebound’ in theaters to know who among the four rebounds with whom after the breakup and what the outcome is.

Know how this movie is

The film is about a generation that says ‘thank you’ to their parents for everything, they feel no qualms about sitting and drinking with their mother. ‘Ishq Vishq Rebound’ is the perfect film for Gen Z who are trying to find love amidst the ‘right swipe’ and ‘left swipe’ trends. He will bind them to Himself from beginning to end. And for all of us who aren’t Gen Z, this story is the ‘new story of changing relationships’. If you are curious to know this. And if you have the guts to face the reality, this movie is definitely watchable.

Directing, writing and others

National award winning director Nipun Dharmadhikari has directed ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’. Being a millennial himself, Nipun is doing full justice to this ‘Gen Z’ film. Each character in the film has been given its own place and importance. The film being a sequel to the superhit franchise like ‘Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar’, comparisons between the two films are inevitable. If they wanted, Nipun and his team could have made a film where true love triumphs. But with the bold end he has given us a ‘reality check’ that times are changing, the definition of love is changing.

The cinematography of the film is also unconventional. Many scenes use handheld camera and front camera shots. Some refreshing scenes of video calling and blogging have also been shot for the film.

With ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’, these four actors Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Gibran Khan and Naila Grewal make their debut as leads on the big screen. Among these four actors, Rohit Saraf has got the most screen space in the film. Rohit has done small roles in films before this. But this time the case was different. Rohit has taken full advantage of this golden opportunity he got. Be it ‘Raghav’s’ confusion or his willingness to do anything for his friends, Rohit has managed to impress the audience with his expressions and body language. Gibran Khan is good and has done full justice to his role. Hrithik Roshan’s sister Pashmina will have to try a little harder. Compared to Raghav, Gibran and Naila, she has lagged behind. Naila’s character is small compared to the other three actors, but effective.

Watch this Don’t watch this

Be it Alisha Sahai from Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Ishq Vishk Pyar Vyaar’ or Veronica played by Deepika Padukone in ‘Cocktail’. So many Hindi movies so far have shown that the hero can never truly fall in love with a girl who is bold and wears short dresses. I love those who are civilized and talk with their eyes closed. Some films also show that the hero falls in love with a modern girl. But it is very important for them to perform ‘Om Jai Jagadish’ or ‘Aarti’ of any God. Even if the hero is impressed by her bold style, she needs to wear a saree or salwar suit when meeting her family, otherwise the relationship will be cancelled. ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’ has given a jaw-dropping response to this conservative thinking of the Indian film industry.

This film has proved that love can be found even after heartbreak. A boy and a girl can be each other’s best friends and even girlfriend-boyfriend. And girls who wear bold clothes also have the right to be loved. If you have the courage to adopt a new way of thinking then definitely watch this movie, you will enjoy it. Fans of the ‘old school love’ story of ‘Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar’ would be better off staying away from it.
