Turmoil inside Wipro
Azim Premji, one of the world’s biggest philanthropists, turned the fortunes of Wipro around by setting up a company in the 1990s and the soap oil selling company became one of the leading IT companies in India. Is everything going well in that company? Keeping in mind the interests of the company’s investors, these questions are being raised because recently many C-class executives of the company have left the company. In the latest case, the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Shubha Tatavarti has also resigned.
Shubha Tataborty joined Wipro in 2021. She joined as Chief Technology Officer. During her three-year tenure, she led Wipro’s GenAI Initiative. This launched Wipro AI360.
This is why Shubha left Wipro
Wipro informed the stock market that its Chief Technology Officer Shubha Tatavarti has resigned from the company to explore new opportunities outside Wipro. In her resignation letter sent to the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Srini Palia, she said that she will be stepping down from the role of Wipro’s CTO with effect from August 16. Best wishes for the journey ahead.

Prior to Wipro, Shubha Tatavarti worked in many leadership roles at large companies like PayPal and Walmart. Earlier this year, WomenTech Network ranked her in the list of ‘Top 100 Women Tech Executives to Watch’. With Shubha Tatavarti’s exit, there are people who continue to hold senior positions at Wipro.
Wipro’s top executives continue to leave
Shubha Tatavarty is not the first among C-suite executives to leave the company. In fact, this is the fourth such resignation in the past few months. Following the resignation of the company’s former MD and CEO Thierry Delaporte, the company handed over this responsibility to Srini Palia. This is the fourth resignation of C-suite executives in four months after Palia became the CEO in April. Earlier, Wipro’s Chief Supply Officer (CSO) Ajit Mahale, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Amit Chaudhary and Anees Chenchah, CEO of Asia Pacific, India, West Asia and Africa, resigned.
Most of these executives had joined Wipro when Thierry Delaporte was the company’s CEO. Wipro’s consolidated revenue declined 3.8 per cent in the April-June quarter to Rs 21,963.80 crore. During this period, the company’s net profit stood at Rs 3,003.2 crore.
