One of the key demands of the protesting junior doctors was the removal of Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, which was accepted by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. According to the information released by the West Bengal government on Tuesday, many police officers have been transferred in the state. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal has been made ADG and IG of STF from Kolkata. While Manoj Kumar Verma has been appointed as the Police Commissioner of Kolkata in his place.

Manoj was earlier working as ADG (Law and Order) in Bengal Police. Apart from this, 5 other police officers have been transferred. Manoj is a 1998 batch Indian Police Service officer.
