Inflation is on the rise again in the country
Signs of rising retail inflation have started to appear again in India. On Thursday, the government presented retail inflation data based on the Consumer Price Index. In August 2024, it increased marginally compared to July 2024. The retail inflation rate in August 2024 has been 3.65 percent. Most importantly, now the inflation rate is higher in rural areas than in cities in the country, which means that the impact of inflation is higher for the poor.
The inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.60 percent in July. However, compared to August 2023, the inflation rate has now dropped by about 50 percent, because then the inflation rate was 6.83 percent.
