INDW vs SAW 1st ODI: Smitty Mandhana scores 400, makes strong start against South Africa

On one hand, Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, is preparing for the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. On the other hand, the South Africa women’s cricket team is on a tour of India. The ODI series between Women’s Team India vs Women’s South Africa has started today on 16 June. Team India’s vice-captain Sanglikar Smriti Mandhana has scored a brilliant century in the opening match of this series. Smriti saved Team India’s innings with this century. Smriti played this innings when Team India was in trouble.

The first ODI match between Team India vs South Africa has been held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Team India won the toss and decided to bat. However, Team India’s wickets fell at regular intervals and the situation became 99 runs for 5 wickets. But after this both Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma effectively saved Team India’s innings. Both of them made a partnership of 81 runs for the sixth wicket. After this Deepti Sharma was out after scoring 37 runs in 48 balls. So the condition of Team India became 180 runs for 6 wickets.

Smriti Mandhana became the troubleshooter

After Deepti, Pooja Vastrakar came on the field. Team India crossed 200. After this, Smriti scored the sixth century of her ODI career. Smriti completed the century in 116 balls at a strike rate of 86.21. Smriti hit 10 fours and 1 six in this innings.
