Indore-Jabalpur Express derails in Jabalpur, two bogies spread 25 feet apart

A major accident on Indore-Jabalpur Superfast Express (22191) was averted on Saturday, though two coaches of the train derailed on Saturday morning. This caused panic, but no passengers were injured. The train reached platform number six of Jabalpur station. The accident happened at the same time. Due to which traffic was affected.

Railway officials confirmed the accident and said that no passenger was injured during the incident. The derailed coach was located behind the engine about 25 feet from the platform.

The Indore-Jabalpur Overnight Express met with an accident at 5.40 am. The scheduled arrival time of the train is 5.35 am. At that time the train was reaching the platform of Jabalpur station. The accident happened at the same time.

The accident took place near the Jabalpur railway platform

According to railway officials, the train was about to reach the platform at that time. Panic spread among the passengers as two coaches derailed. As soon as the information was received, the railway officials reached the spot and the cause of the accident is being investigated.

After the mishap, the loco pilot immediately stopped the train and saved the other coaches from being dragged. West Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Harshit Srivastav said that the train was running at a speed of 5 km per hour when the incident took place.

He said that traffic was disrupted for about half an hour after the accident. After which repair work was carried out. Repairs completed at 10:53.

Railways set up an inquiry committee

The Railway Administration has constituted a committee to investigate the accident. The inquiry committee will submit its report within a week. But a railway official says that the preliminary investigation has revealed that a major accident was averted due to the intelligence of the Loco pilot. At the time of the crash, the loco pilot immediately applied the emergency brake. A major disaster has been averted.

Earlier on August 17, 22 bogies of the Sabarmati Express traveling from Varanasi to Ahmedabad derailed in the block section between Kanpur and Bhimsen stations in Uttar Pradesh.
