India’s status is continuously rising across the world. Now the report that has come in is that India has become the third most powerful country in the Asia Pacific region. In this list, India has left behind countries like Japan. Only two countries are ahead of India: the United States and China. India is the fifth largest economy in the world in terms of GDP. It is expected to reach the third position in a few years. Let us also tell you what kind of report has come out.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday, India has overtaken Japan to become the third-largest power in the Asia Power Index. This achievement marks a major shift in the geopolitical scenario of the Asia-Pacific region. The ministry attributed India’s progress to its growth, young population and ever-expanding economy. All of this has strengthened the country’s position as a regional power. In a major shift, India has overtaken Japan to become the third-largest power in the Asia Power Index, reflecting its rising geopolitical stature, ANI quoted the ministry as saying.

Launched in 2018 by the Lowy Institute, the Asia Power Index assesses 27 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. It focuses on their ability to shape and respond to external geopolitical challenges. The index uses eight key measures, such as economic potential, military capability and diplomatic influence, to assess each country’s power.

How did India become strong?

The ministry said India’s rise in the 2024 edition of the index reflects its post-pandemic recovery and economic revival. India has expanded its economic potential by 4.2 points, mainly due to its strong GDP growth and purchasing power parity (PPP), further strengthening its position as the world’s third-largest economy. The statement said India has seen a tremendous economic improvement post-pandemic, thanks to which the country’s economic potential has increased by 4.2 points.

India’s future resources score has also seen an increase of 8.2 points, highlighting its potential demographic benefit. Unlike the ageing populations in China and Japan, India’s young population is expected to drive continued economic expansion and workforce growth in the coming years. The report also mentions India’s growing influence in multilateral diplomacy and regional security.

According to the report, India’s active participation in groupings like the Quad and its leadership in regional dialogues has strengthened its position in regional security without the need for a formal military alliance. Moreover, defence deals like the BrahMos missile deal with the Philippines point to India’s growing geopolitical ambitions.

condition of other countries

If we talk about other countries, America is still in the lead with 81.7 points. On the other hand, China is in second place with 72.7 points. If we talk about Japan, it has 38.9 points. On the other hand, India’s nearest neighbouring country is not even close to India in this index. It has 14.6 points in this index. Currently, Pakistan is in 16th place.

A total of 27 countries have been evaluated in the Asia Power Index. Apart from Pakistan, these countries also include Russia, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Six years of data have been used for all countries in the evaluation. It has been said in the report of this index that although the United States currently occupies the first position, it seems to be continuously facing challenges from China.
