India to become semiconductor king, PM Modi makes plan with Singapore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong visited a leading Singaporean company in the semiconductor and electronics sector and discussed avenues for cooperation in this important industry. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day visit to Singapore at the invitation of Wong.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement to the press that the two leaders visited AEM Holdings Limited, where they were briefed about the company’s role in the global semiconductor value chain, its operations and its plans for India.

According to the statement, the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association provided insights into the development of the semiconductor ecosystem in the country and opportunities for cooperation with India. It said that in view of our efforts to develop the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India and Singapore’s expertise in this sector, both sides have decided to expand bilateral cooperation. During the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, both sides agreed to promote advanced manufacturing with a focus on semiconductors as a pillar for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

The two sides also finalised the MoU on India-Singapore Semiconductor Environment Partnership, the statement said. Jaiswal took to the social media platform to interact with Singaporean students who had visited India under the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian engineers working at AEM.

Modi has arrived in Singapore after his visit to Brunei.

The visit of the two leaders to the company underlines the commitment of both sides for cooperation in this sector. The statement said that Modi thanked Prime Minister Wong for visiting AEM Holdings Limited with him. Prime Minister Modi also invited Singapore semiconductor companies to participate in the Semicon India exhibition to be held in Greater Noida from September 11 to 13. Modi has arrived in Singapore after concluding his visit to Brunei.
