Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has suffered a major setback. Since last year, during Justin Trudeau’s tenure, there has been a major rift in India-Canada relations. Now even in Canada, people are moving away from Justin Trudeau. Trudeau’s Liberal Party suffered a major defeat in the by-election held in St. Paul. The Toronto-St. Paul seat was considered a stronghold of the Liberal Party. On Tuesday, Conservative candidate Don Stewart won the St. Paul seat with 42 percent of the votes. Liberal Party’s Leslie Church got 40 percent of the votes. Leslie Church is a former Parliament Hill employee and lawyer. He has been with the Liberal Party for a long time.

The Toronto-St Paul’s seat has been held by the Liberal Party for the last 30 years. The year 2011 saw a very bad time for the party. At that time only 34 Liberal MPs were elected to the Parliament. At that time also the Toronto-St Paul’s seat was held by the Liberal Party. In the 2021 election, the Liberal Party candidate won Toronto-St Paul’s with 49 percent of the vote. The Liberal Party holds 155 out of 338 seats in the House of Commons.

This was a setback for the government

Justin Trudeau’s government has suffered a setback ahead of next year’s national election. Despite the Liberal Party’s defeat, Trudeau has vowed to lead the Liberal Party in next year’s election and work hard to solve people’s problems.

Israel is also surrounded by Hamas war

Trudeau’s main rival and Conservative leader Pierre Poilvert has reacted to the result. He has demanded an early election from Trudeau. The Conservative Party has launched a campaign against the poor economic record of the Liberal Party. The party has also sidelined Trudeau over the Israel-Hamas war.
